  • Abstract
It is pointed out that one area in which a communications professional can gain enhanced job skills is desktop, or electronic publishing. Technical writers or professional communicators who can manipulate the new electronic systems will be more likely to survive recessions than their pencil-pushing counterparts. It is shown that technical writers and communicators can increase their perceived value to employers by developing and utilizing electronic publishing skills on the job
