  • Abstract
High gain tracking antennas are challenged in spatially acquiring the signal source because of their inherently narrow beamwidths. A method to expand the field of view for spatial acquisition is described. Such methods are typically needed at EHF frequencies because high gain levels can be achieved from relatively compact antennas, wide EHF bandwidths require high antenna gain for link closure, and EHF weather sensitivity increases the required gain to offset rain attenuation.
