Abstract
Post and beam construction is suitable for modern wooden building because of its excellent performance and aesthetic appearance. It can be classified as mortise-tenon connection system, dowel type connection system and glued-in rods connection system according to connection types. A literature review of researches on racking performance of post and beam timber constructions over last two decades was presented in this paper. It is shown that the main efforts and contributions of the researchers focused on the performance of moment connections. The points of future research works were proposed for the development of ductile and high-strength connections, post and beam constructions and hybrid system with post and beam frames and light frame shearwalls.
