Abstract
The author discusses the problems of IR light sources for for IR absorption monitors and how the use of an LED solves the problems. The author then describes the first instrument based on this IR absorption LED technology, the Aquaspot, and its use for measuring the water content of insulating oil in transformers and switchgear. The use of this technology to monitor carbon dioxide is also discussed
