Abstract
The network education is an important form of informatization development of higher education and to construct high-quality teaching staff is the basic guarantee for promoting the healthy development of network education. Based on an analysis of the characteristics and functions of network education, this paper discusses the role positioning of university teachers under the context of network education, and insists that teachers should perform the four kinds of roles well, including the constructor of knowledge system, the eco-educator, the lifelong learner and the educational innovator. It also proposes some countermeasures for the construction of university\´s teaching staff, including: to strengthen on-the-job training for teachers; to establish a Web-based "teachers\´ grouping system"; to construct a scientific performance evaluation system for teachers and to perfect teachers\´ incentive mechanism, etc.
