Abstract
This paper introduces a simple method to provide soft-macro diversity through distributed low-complexity base stations communicating to a central node to achieve a macrodiversity gain using maximal ratio combining. Having shown that this is feasible, a distributed resource allocation protocol is proposed based on agent processes exploiting minimal information on the state of the mobiles. This protocol proves to be adaptive, scalable and stable
