Abstract
The patch PIFA is an ideal compact antenna for wireless and sensing applications. It is usually fine-tuned, if not completely designed, by experimental methods because there is no accurate theoretical approach for the input impedance for all possible feed locations and over the full available bandwidth. Consequently improvements to the models are always of interest. This paper reviews the state of the art for PIFA modeling using the cavity and transmission line model. Also, new physical experimental and simulation results are presented.
