Abstract
Electrical machines form an essential part of most technical systems and are found in a lot of domestic appliances nowadays. They are essential in power generation and transport, and even in fuel energised vehicles. Due to the increasing demands imposed upon them by the customer, it is necessary to use advanced techniques, taking into account all parameters, describing the machine behaviour. The authors discuss the use of CAD for electrical machines and look at three technical problems in particular: magnetic field distribution; temperature calculations; and mechanical analysis
