Abstract
With the rapid urbanization, the land use of Wuhan changes frequently, and the method of remote sensing is used widely on macroscale and mesoscale land use change survey. The aim of the study was to classify the land use of Wuhan to obtain the area of every kind of land types, and to predict land use change trend in the next 15 years. In this process, the method of layered extraction of land types based on TM remote sensing images and Markov chain model were applied. Through the prediction, the area, the change rate, as well as percentage of total area of every kind of land types in different periods of Wuhan were showed in the results. All these can play a positive role on the land rational use of Wuhan in the future.
