  • Abstract
    At present there are two basic methods for the evaluation of the liquefaction potential of sands. Both suffer from drawbacks, particularly when marine sediments are of interest. This paper presents an initial attempt to establish correlations between geophysical properties (compressive-wave and shear-wave velocities) and the liquefaction potential of marine sands,with a view to using such relationships to predict the liquefaction potential of marine sands under earthquake or wave loading conditions.
