  • Abstract
    China´s ancient capitals formed unique urban space form system in the long historical development, the most representative among which, was metropolis space constrainted strongly by orthodox etiquette thoughts. As the capital of thirteen dynasties, Luoyang is the most representative in metropolis space, as its evolution process reflects all the features from early to mid stage of China´s ancient capital city space form. By analyzing the development during the important periods of Luoyang through researching literature materials, it can be concluded that with constantly improving of etiquette thoughts, its space form improved ceaselessly and eventually comes to the metropolis space form marked by Chinese monarchy rules characteristics. Thus it can be clearly understood the development and change rules of metropolis space form, which can provide important reference for research in China´s ancient capitals space form in later period.
