Abstract
Some examples of microprocessor based equipment for controlling and monitoring power system networks are given. These include an autoreclosure relay for transmission systems, an autoreclosure relay for distribution systems and a disturbance recorder. The security of power systems depends very much on the co-ordination of protection, control and monitoring equipment. Provided that these function correctly, power system operation is safeguarded
