Abstract
The "Buoyancy OTEC" concept proposed by Sorensen does not need the heat exchanger and can generate high pressure head, which are critical problems for closed and open cycle concepts. A model test is designed to verify Sorensen\´s Concept. The working fluid is chosen as Freon-113. The warm water temperature is designed as
F and cold water temperature as
F. A hydraulic head generated by the "Buoyancy OTEC" will be performed. Otherwise, a system analysis is executed for a pilot plant of the "Buoyancy OTEC". Freon-12 is chosen as working fluid. The result is excellent.
