Abstract
Examines the application of a single-chip micro-controller containing ADCs, digital input/output ports and serial communication links in the development of a control system for a low-cost two link manipulator. Development was undertaken employing the standard Eurocard format with in-house electronics and software to produce a stand-alone micro-controller based control system. The system permits the connection of an external host computer for remote operation of the controller´s functions. The controller hardware can be configured in a variety of ways such as single master with it´s own I/O devices, or multiple-slave. Flexibility of configuration allows the production of a cost effective system appropriate to the application
