Abstract

The paper selects the panel data of 14 leading banks in Chinese banking market in 1996-2007 periods and makes analyzes of the impact of foreign financial institution entry on the efficiency of Chinese banking industry. And the result shows that the X-efficiency of Chinese commercial bank is continuously upgrading and the efficiency of banks with foreign strategic investors is higher than that without such investors introduced. Specifically, the effects of changes in the system of foreign strategic investors is the most apparent, effects of management intervention is the second and the weakest the effects of technology output.
