Abstract
Discusses different ways of estimating the radial velocity of a track of constant direction and speed from observations of range, bearing and elevation obtained by a rotating surveillance radar. It points out the importance of the constraint of constant heading and speed, and it raises questions for further research. Questions are also raised about the assessment of different approaches to estimation and about the relationship between `a priori´ evaluations of estimators and those obtained by simulation and observation
