  • Abstract
The DD block is a new exploration area with relative complex structure. At present, due to the lack of any well revealing the target formation (XL formation), previous related studies on its sedimentary facies were mainly based on regional geologic understanding, so it can´t provide both available sedimentary facies belt and favorable reservoir area for further exploration and development activities. In this paper, under the guideline of the theory of sequence stratigraphy, based on the only more than 400 kilometers 2-D seismic data (with survey grid of 2×3~3×4 km) in our study area, together with outcrop data, regional depositional setting and previous studies, the authors analyzed the reflection signature and identified its lithology within the XL formation on each seismic profile, then compiled lateral comprehensive vector analysis in profile and plane, after that, we divided seismic facies belts and converted them into sedimentary facies with the help of geological understanding. Finally, the plane distribution of some potential favorable sedimentary facies for reservoir development within the XL formation is outlined. Due to its high-quality seismic data with distinct reflection characteristic, the prediction results can provide some useful information for oil and gas exploration in this area.
