Abstract
Expulsion fuses are a simple and economical solution for protection against short-circuits and overloads in rural overhead networks, especially in pole-mounted transformer HV/LV substations. These fuses are of high breaking durability and have several service advantages. Results of exploitation and economical effects as well as the advantage of keeping up a suitable continuity of rural consumers´ supply has led to further development and improvement of expulsion fuses. The authors discuss the service experience of these fuses
