Abstract
The Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act is explored and its accomplishments reviewed as a forecast of the potential held by the establishment of the EEZ. Because the Magnuson Act has been in place for approximately seven years, it is argued that the Proclamation will have little direct effect upon domestic and distant water fisheries, but may result in a changed government-private sector relationship.
