Abstract
Higher-order mode coupling effects between coupling slots in the main waveguide of a planar slot array are investigated. At present, centered-inclined coupling slots are characterized as series elements based on their TE/sub 10/ mode scattering. Higher-order mode coupling between adjacent centered-inclined coupling slots in the main waveguide can introduce a small but significant error in the phase of the aperture electric field. This, in turn, can lead to significant errors in the excitation of branch waveguides, and in the input voltage standing wave ratio. Numerical results on the higher-order mode coupling effects are presented.<>
