  • Abstract
A digital autostabilisation system is described which uses the principle temporal separation for the detection of hardware faults. Software faults are dealt with by a combination of duplex programs and reversal checking. The need for and ways of achieving, very high integrity in fly-by-wire hardware/software, are discussed. Operation of the aircraft system presented is described. The graceful degradation of the system and its reliability assessment are also explained
