Abstract
The purpose of this research has been to design a simple low cost system to enable paraplegics to stand safely and rapidly in any location and to remain standing for up to ten minutes. Then, equally importantly, enable the user to sit in a safe, controlled manner. Electrodes and feedback transducers have been kept to a minimum to enable the system to be simply applied while retaining a good cosmetic appearance
