Abstract
Modern technology has the potential to provide disabled people of the future with a far more independent lifestyle than any physically handicapped adult enjoys today. Integrating the special requirements of this group of people into the every day life of the 21st century requires their needs and abilities to be accommodated in the design of new microelectronic systems at the outset. In the world of computers and information technology, this is already becoming a reality. Recent legislation in the United States requires office automation products purchased by government units to conform to a set of guidelines for access by disabled people
