Abstract
The HEMT is currently the most promising device for millimetre-wave amplification. Accordingly, the author examines some of the factors which are important to achieving high power gain from HEMTs at 94 GHz, and identifies some features which are critical to achieving gain reproducibility from device-to-device. He concludes that there is plenty of scope for getting monolithic integration at 94 GHz wrong. To stand even a chance of success, a carefully reasoned and planned balance between circuit design and technological realization is required. Some useful guidelines which may help in achieving these objectives are given
