Abstract
Results of an investigation into the shaping amplitude and phase distribution of a low-frequency input pattern into a beam waveguide are presented. Dual offset shaped reflectors can be designed to realize the amplitude and phase distribution of such an input pattern. The desired object functions for the dual reflector synthesis and their aperture were determined using the spherical wave expansion method. The results obtained show that for beam waveguide designs using reflectors of diameters less than 27 lambda , there is insufficient control of the output phase center at the second aperture. For larger-sized reflectors, it is possible to have some design tradeoffs between spillover loss and defocusing by controlling the input aperture amplitude and phase distribution.<>
