Abstract
The performance of a polarity coincidence correlator with various dithers in the presence of noise is investigated. The dithers considered are of (1) the uniform type, (2) the sinusoidal type, (3) the Gaussian type, (4) the exponential type, (5) the Rayleigh type, and (6) of the rectangular type. The peak dither voltage is adjusted to be a factor `g´ of the interference peak, and SNRs (signal to noise ratios) in comparison with that of a classical correlator are plotted as a function of g. It is shown that in the presence of Gaussian noise it is best to use an exponential dither at g=1.6
