Abstract
The capabilities of high speed digital unit protection of feeder circuits depends on the ability of the data communications to successfully transfer information between the relaying points of the scheme. Accurate fault diagnosis demands secure data transfer during a power system fault when there is a high probability of fault induced interference to the communications system. The research presented in this paper examines techniques to enhance the inherent resilience to interference of an integrated digital data communication system using distribution cable carrier or pilot wire communications for protection and network automation applications
