Preface

This proceedings includes the 8 papers presented at the 6th IAPR Workshop on Pattern Recognition in Remote Sensing (PRRS 2010) that was held on August 22, 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey in conjunction with the 20th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR 2010). The PRRS Workshop, which is organized by the Technical Committee 7 of the International Association for Pattern Recognition, has established itself as an important event for scientists involved in the combined fields of pattern recognition and remote sensing. These two research fields have always overlapped, but the large volumes of remote sensing data acquired from last generation sensors require new advanced algorithms and techniques for automatic analysis.
