Abstract
Within a review of telecommunications, it will be necessary to consider the benefits of using facilities management (FM) and outsourcing. This can be a partial or total solution to a company´s telecommunications service requirements. A common form of FM is the systems and services maintenance contracts. Equally, outsourcing should now be well understood, for computer software and services companies have been in this market for over 20 years. The author discusses various aspects of outsourcing and gives examples as follows: the use of external experts, WAN, PABX and LAN (Ethernet). The author proposes that outsourcing can provide a solution to all telecommunications activities; with the exception of the business strategy, the definition of deliverables and the management of the end-users expectations
