Abstract
The author discusses a low phase noise, broadband microwave frequency synthesizer consisting of a low noise crystal oscillator, step recovery diode comb generator and switched filter bank. He illustrates the synthesizer block diagram and main circuit. The test results and test curve of a 2 cm band frequency synthesizer are given. The phase noise is about 105 dBc at carrier offset 1 kHz in a carrier frequency of 12 GHz
