Abstract
A framework to specify and execute application-specific protocols is proposed starting from a transaction processing background. These services are intended to be used by tools such as programming languages, which provide the appropriate user abstractions. Components export generic specifications of their subcomputations in terms of coordination events. Protocols specified by dependencies among the events allow the coordination of subcomputations.<>
