A new overhead line concept based on covered conductors

A new overhead line concept based on covered conductors is introduced in the 24 kV distribution system. However, a neutral evaluation is necessary to clarify the service reliability in the Norwegian exposed climate. After one year in service in a coastal area the corrosion attack caused by simulated insulation damages is surprisingly high and can not be neglected. Further investigations must be carried out to clarify the factors which influence the simulation of lightning before recommendations for arcing and overvoltage protection can be given
