The introduction and utilization of a modern, technical information system at Scandinavian utilities

Experience from Scandinavian utilities which have been successful in introducing network information systems, show that success depends on establishing a project plan for the introduction. This project should be controlled by the utilities´ management, and must define responsibilities, economic and personnel resources. The introduction plan should deal with the following elements: evaluating different network information systems; installing the system; establishing the system in the utility organization; and operation of the system. The authors describe the NETBAS technical information system designed to cover the requirements of power supply utilities considering network expansion and operation planning, maintenance management and system documentation. At the same time it also meets user demands regarding man machine interface, low price, modern technology and a smooth integration into the utilities´ organization
