Abstract
Optical flow has been widely used in motion estimation. By initializing adaptive gradients, we have developed a technique to reduce the occlusion problem in computing optical flow with the Horn and Schunck (1981) method. The adaptive gradients are derived from the forward and backward image gradients based on the optical flow equation during iterations. Improved optical flow solutions with the elimination of `double-image´ artifacts caused by occlusions have been obtained
