Abstract
Film dosimetry can be a viable alternative to diode array and ion chamber array systems for beam data acquisition of non-physical wedges. Diode array systems exhibit energy dependence in the wedge toe region as shown in comparison against film and Monte Carlo results. Film dosimetry is also of interest for studying PDD characteristics of non-physical wedges, which is currently not possible to measure accurately using diode array and ion chamber array scanning systems. Use of properly calibrated film for this purpose will greatly reduce the scan time required to commission nonphysical wedges, as well as provide higher resolution scan data for small wedged field sizes. Further investigation is required for other wedge angles, beam energies and throughout the range of depths utilized in clinical use. The use of other types of film for this purpose also needs to be investigated
