Abstract
Numerous systems and applications have been established during the construction of Digital City, but there are two major obstacles preventing the applications from being interactively and collaboratively operated, one is the data sharing, another is service aggregation. The paper demonstrates a Common Platform of Digital city (CPGI) to provide common and shared geographic information and integrated services, and to promote the sustainable and collaborative operations of all applications and systems. Firstly the CPGI is defined, and it is compared with Geospatial Framework and Fundamental Geographic Information Database. Secondly, the paper presents the architecture of the CPGI, and describes how to produce the CPGI datasets. Taking account of the SOA advantages, the paper implements the architecture into integrating CPGI services. Finally, a Digital City Common Platform of Qianjiang City is exemplified as the system design and construction.
