Abstract
The authors showed that the time taken to fill HC-PCF capillaries varies over a sequence of fillings, only approaching the time predicted by the flow-rate equations after a few fillings. The authors suggest that the effect may be accounted for by the formation of a water absorbing film on the capillary walls.
