Abstract
A type of external cloak with axial constitutive parameter as constant is proposed. Only ρ and θ components of the constitutive tensor of the cloak are spatial variant, and z component is a constant that could be adjusted by the radius of the virtual air region, which make it possible to construct this kind of cloak with two-dimensional metamaterials. The effects of loss and perturbations of parameters on the performance of the cloak are also investigated. This study highly improves the flexibilities for 2D cloak design.
