  • Abstract
    We combine a mode-matching technique and Galerkin´s method to study the propagation properties of microstrip lines on a lossy inhomogeneous substrate, which has important applications but can not be solved by conventional spectral domain methods. Poisson´s equation with a complex permittivity is derived on which the eigenmodes in each inhomogeneous layer are solved numerically. The Green´s function is derived based on the reflection matrices. Galerkin´s method is then applied to calculate the capacitance and conductance matrices of microstrip lines embedded in such a medium.
