Abstract
CDMA system is a forward link capacity limit system. When there is asymmetric data service, this problem is more obvious. In this paper, we propose a combination of power control and smart antenna scheme to check the performance improvement of CDMA system. The scheme is tested under three ITU channel models. On one hand, power control can effectively suppress the "near-far" effects and MAI by reducing the individual user transmit power. At the same time smart antenna at the base station could both reduce inter cell interference and intra cell interference significantly, thus improves the link level BLER greatly. It\´s very interesting to note that the scheme\´s performance varies quite a lot. Details about the scheme performance under three scenarios are discussed below. In part 4 specific performance increase values are listed in a table, too.
