Abstract
Summary form only given. It is pointed out that the prevailing socio-cultural context in the Pacific Rim countries has been very different from the European/North American ambience; the growing technological self-confidence, high productivity, and competitiveness of these countries are traceable to the prevalence of a Confucian ethic much different from the Protestant ethic of north Europe and the USA. The author analyzes the nonProtestant ethic centered innovation inducing dynamism anchored in the Confucian/Buddhist principles which are the underpinnings of the unfolding saga of the rise of capitalism in the Pacific Rim. The emergence of Confucian ethic is traced to religio-philosophical roots in these societies
