  • Abstract
    A dual band metamaterial substrate integrated waveguide antenna is presented for the first time. The antenna was designed as a compact size. The antenna design was based on a modified substrate integrated waveguide. The theoretical principles of the proposed antenna design have been discussed. The electromagnetic full wave simulations have been employed for the design verification. The results confirm that the antenna can demonstrate dual band at 4.45 GHz and 7.25 GHz with typical radiation pattern at both bands. The antenna size is only 15 × 12.8 mm2 which represents 70% size reduction at lower operating frequency and 15% at upper frequency.
