Abstract
Most public key ciphers, notably the RSA system, are block ciphers. Although ideal for many purposes, they are quite unsuitable for voice channel encoding where a stream cipher is needed. This paper introduces pubic key stream ciphers and gives details of the recently invented quadratic residue cipher (QRC) as an example
