Abstract
Sheet and film forming processes may consist of more than 100 actuators and 400 lane measurements. Applying model predictive control to these processes can yield quadratic programs with as many as 1000 decision variables. The practicality of model predictive control is partially limited by the ability to solve these quadratic programs in real time. In this work are investigated some potential schemes to improve the efficiency of the solution of the quadratic program. In particular we are able to show that for a large class of linear sheet and film forming processes, we can expect reasonable computational costs by appropriately structuring the optimization
