  • Abstract
I/O intensive application is one of the most common applications in cloud computing environment. In some occasions, it is even the dominant type. However, few studies have focused on how to improve the processing efficiency of such specific type of application. To efficiently use I/O intensive application, it is important to find out the features and characteristics of this application. In this paper, we have done a lot of work for I/O intensive application in cloud computing system and found out some common features and characteristics. Based on these, mathematical model of I/O intensive application is established. Extensive experiments have been done and verified the correctness of the model. The model can be used to judge and predict I/O intensive applications which can serve as theoretical basis for further research on efficient processing method of I/O intensive application.
