Abstract
This contribution discusses approaches for modelling Internet traffic on the basis of so-called regenerative models. Temporal interval distributions of consecutive data packets where measured in the network of the University of Rostock. The gained dataset allows to present suitable functions for the characterization and modelling of Internet traffic. As a result of the investigations it is shown, that regenerative approaches provide sufficiently exact results for modelling Internet data traffic.
