Abstract
This paper describes a circuit designed to determine the presence of one of n frequencies over a constant time interval called a bit period. The method used is a microprogram that performs a series of arithmetic operations on samples of input signal and samples stored for each of the n frequencies. The resulting output is an indication of the symbol present at the input, the validity of the data, and a clock synchronized with the bit rate.
