Abstract
Kingston Communications´ local Hull area network currently serves some 200,000 customers. The Group recently completed a £4m investment programme including the installation of ATM switching-to enable the network to support ADSL services. Kingston Communications Limited launched ATM services to its residential and small business customers over ADSL from 1 December 1998 initially on a trial basis. A number of services are envisaged, however the initial services to be offered will be fast Internet and home working. Video delivery, home shopping and banking, plus entertainment services will be offered in the second phase of rollout, which is anticipated will start from April 1999 onward. This technology and service deployment has taken place as the result of a period of extensive operational and commercial trial
