Abstract
Adaptive fault tolerance has been applied to adaptive filters to provide fault tolerance at low hardware cost. However, these filter structures have suffered from poor post-fault convergence characteristics. Also, the computational burden required by these filters has not been properly addressed. In this paper, a new fault tolerant FIR adaptive filter based on the FFT is introduced. This filter structure has superior convergence behavior over previously introduced structures, and since it is based on the FFT, it is efficient to compute, as well as conducive to an additional degree of fault tolerance capability. Computer simulations are given to demonstrate the robust performance of the new filter
