Abstract
One of the features of ship power systems is presence of different power quality disturbances -frequency and voltage rms value deviations, unbalance and voltage waveform distortions. The disturbances (including their synegry) cause an increase in windings temperature of marine induction machines that are exposed to overheating even if the voltage parameters fulfill the requirements of ship classification societies. For the reason it is necessary to improve protection of induction machines against thermal effect of supplying with the voltage of the lowered quality. One of the key issue to protect considered devices is an introduction of an appropriate synthetic power quality factor. This paper is devoted to experimental verification of temperature factor of power quality that value is proportional to the windings temperature-rise of induction machines. There are presented results of the thermal tests based on the dedicated laboratory stand and time characteristics of the power quality factor based on voltage monitoring on ships.
